Overshot Coverlet

Antique wool indigo overshot coverlet. Incredible optical weaving pattern. 

Overshot is a weaving method likely originating from Persia that became very popular in the United States during the turn of 19th century, until the early 20th century. 

Excellent antique condition. A few small areas of moth bites as shown. No tears. Small area of staining. Overshot coverlets were often comprised of panels sewn together, this coverlet is one of those single panels.
